Diablo Builds is a community-made desktop and mobile website designed in eight sprints (two months). Meant to be a companion app to the Diablo 4 game, the website can provide a platform for players to share their optimized builds, while helping others fine-tune their characters for maximum efficiency.
The user base for this project consists of a diverse range of people anywhere from 16-40 years of age. We want to cater towards both the casual player-base and the hardcore. Needs for both groups are vastly different. Making sure we design a site that can serve these different groups is important.
Diablo 4 is known for its intricate character builds, where every skill and gear choice impacts gameplay. The build calculator simplifies this complexity by providing a user-friendly interface where players can input their choices and receive accurate DPS (damage per second) computations. By streamlining the optimization process, the team has made it easier for players to create effective builds without being overwhelmed by complexity.
Extensive lo-fi and hi-fidelity designs were released in the time span of two months. Shortly after the product launched, the site was viewed nearly 300k times. Average time spent on site sits at 90sec with users favoring Top Builds and Map features. We were able to validate our designs by gathering user feedback.
The Diablo Builds Calculator is designed with one clear objective in mind: to empower players like you to compare talents, skills, gear, and paragons to assess both offensive and defensive capabilities.
